Returns and Refunds

In compliance with Australian Consumer Law, Sown is not required to provide a refund if you make a wrong selection, need a different size or change your mind. This includes items purchased using Afterpay and Zippay. 

By finalising your purchase, you are agreeing to these terms.

Change of mind 

Sown is happy to accept ‘change of mind’ returns within 14 days from your purchase date in exchange for a Store Credit (3 months validity), unless otherwise stated. This means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return. Customers will incur (be required to pay) the shipping costs associated with ‘change of mind’ returns.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase. 

Please refer to the 'Eligibility' section below to determine if your item is eligible for a return. Returns for a change of mind does not apply to all Promo/Sale/Outlet items. Faulty products can be returned for store credits/replacements subject to stock availability.

Eligibility 

To be eligible for a return, please ensure:

  • Item(s) are in the same condition that you received it

  • Item(s) are unworn or unused

  • Item(s) are unwashed/unaltered and with the original tags

  • Item(s) were purchased directly from www.sown.au with proof of purchase

  • Your return form was submitted within 14 days since your purchase date

  • Once all the requirements are met, please use this link below for your return request.

Exceptions / non-returnable items 

Certain types of items cannot be returned, like perishable goods (such as food, flowers, or plants), custom products (such as special orders or personalised items), and personal care goods (such as beauty products). We also do not accept returns for hazardous materials, flammable liquids, or gases. Due to hygiene reasons, these items cannot be returned: Socks, Headbands, Hair Clips, Scrunchies, Bibs, Hats, Bonnet and Beanies, Underwear, Swimwear. Please choose carefully.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept returns on sale items or gift cards.

What can be returned?

  • FULL PRICED ITEMS: Items purchased at full price can be returned for astore credit (3 calendar months validity).
    Below is the refund option:

    • Store Credit: A unique code will be sent to you to be used in our shop within 3 calendar months. Discounted full priced items will be calculated automatically by the system.

  • PROMO / SALE ITEMS / OUTLET: Returns for a change of mind does not apply to all Promo/Sale/Outlet items. This is communicated at multiple touch points. Faulty products can be returned for store credits/replacements subject to stock availability. Please see below. 

  • GIFT CARDS: non-refundable.

Faulty item(s)

Please inspect your order upon reception and contact us immediately if the item is defective or damaged so that we can assess the issue and make it right. We take care to ensure your item(s) are received in perfect condition; however, sometimes faults can be missed. If you have received a damaged or faulty item, please ensure we are contacted within 14 days of receiving your item(s). 

Minor faults

If you have received an item with a minor fault, we will first attempt to replace or repair the item. If this is not possible, you will be offered the option of a store credit. As per Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), a refund for an item with a minor fault is at the companies’ discretion.  

Please follow the care instructions as we are unable to accept returns due to improper laundering or care. Should an item shrink, tear or break due to improper care, Sown is not responsible for a replacement, refund or credit note. If you are unsure of care instructions, please contact our Customer Service hello@sown.au for advice.

Major faults

If you receive an item which is deemed by Sown as having a major fault. It is at the customers discretion to choose a store credit or a refund. If the item was purchased using a Gift Card, the amount will be credited back to the gift card and not refunded. Below are the refund options:

    • Store Credit: A unique code will be sent to you to be used in our shop within 3 calendar months. Discounted full priced items will be calculated automatically by the system.

    • Full Refund: A refund back to your payment method when you place the order. Refund is the amount of your returned item purchase minus the shipping fee even if your order was a FREE SHIPPING. Shipping cost will not be deducted from your return if your order was not FREE SHIPPING. Shipping will only be incurred by Sown where there is a major fault in the item. 

Please follow the care instructions as we are unable to accept returns due to improper laundering or care. Should an item shrink, tear or break due to improper care, Sown is not responsible for a replacement, refund or credit note. If you are unsure of care instructions, please contact our Customer Service hello@sown.au for advice.

Wrong item

If you received a wrong item, please immediately contact us at hello@sown.au. We will send a return label with shipping paid for you to send the item back to us. Once we have received the item and assessed the eligibility (see below), we will first endeavour to send you  the correct item. A refund or a credit note will be offered if that item is no longer in stock. 

Returns - what happens next?

  • To start a return, you can contact us at hello@sown.au or go to https://shopify.com/65470365936/account 
  • After your return request form is submitted, one of our customer service team members will contact you within 48 hours (excludes weekends and public holidays) to confirm your return request. We may ask for additional information. 
  • If your return is accepted, we’ll send you instructions on how and where to send your package. Items sent back to us without first requesting a return will not be accepted. 

  • Note that customers will incur (be required to pay) the shipping costs associated with ‘change of mind’ returns.

  • Please make sure to send tracking details to hello@sown.au within 10 business days once your return request is accepted. Failure to provide tracking in the time frame given, Sown has the right to deny your return request.

  • Once your return item(s) is back to the warehouse, our team will review if the return eligibility criteria above are met. When your return is accepted, your refund or exchange will be processed within 10 business days or else earlier. If the above return criteria are not met, Sown has the rights to deny your return request. You will be required to pay shipping costs to return the item to you.
